In order to carry out this 'kreditovaniye' the company took out 'torgovy kredit na 10 mln. rub'. Presumably this was a bank loan. I have seen this defined as a loan supplied in the form of goods, but that doesn't seem to make sense here.
Full context: 'byl vzyat torgovy kredit na 10 mln. rub dlya kreditovaniya sveklosdatchikov pod urozhai svekly. Krome togo, provodilos kreditovanie otdelnykh khozyaistv sakharom'.
So, did the company just borrow money from a bank in order to lend it to beet farmers against the beet harvest? Or do I need to translate 'torgovy kredit' in a particular way?
As for the last sentence, I am pretty stuck. Does it mean that some farmers were lent money so that they could deliver sugar? |
