agree  Jack Slep: In my opinion, non-germination is acceptable; non germination is stupid; nongermination is correct.We hyphenate when without it the meaning of the word changes, e.g., re-cover and recover; and before proper nouns, e.g. non-Russian. Many other rules-boohoo

  -> Thank you, Jack. Maybe you are right re. hyphen. However, I've seen "non-germination, non germination and nongermination" used in similar texts, and all three seem to be equally acceptable.
