Вышел во двор. Чирк коньками по снегу, чирк! - кататься-то как следует не умеет. Подошел к горке.

Есои не трудно, прошу перевести все предложение с этим словом.

if it's ice (which for skates is more likely!), then perhaps: the screech of skates on the ice.

If, as your text suggests, it is snow, then it would be more likely a soft whoosh. But this would surely be skis and not skates!
