Explanation:
Although classical translation (connected) is already present here, it is sometimes misguiding (from the outside or the distribution inside the premises?). Hook up in most cases refers unequivocally to the outside connection.

"Connected up" is used in a number of contexts, e.g. in fitting components in a computer or getting onto the Internet.
