Russian to English translations [PRO]
Construction / Civil Engineering | | Russian term or phrase: подсыпка грунта | Hello. I get the general idea that this involves filling up a space with earth, but I have no idea what we call this in English. Multitran gives bedding course, but this seems to refer specifically to laying paving. I don't have any context, apart from that it is for a large construction project and the подсыпка грунта is going to cost a lot.
Does anyone know the English?

"Подсыпка" is isually used for filling surface irregularities and levelling, landscaping and planting. It means that we'll have to deliver geround from somewhere else and it will cost a lot. As for backfill(ing) it is a different operation, e.g. we excavate a trench for a pipe and then we backfill it with the same ground we excavated. It's relatively chip! |
