Russian term or phrase:затейничество
Это такой предмет в учебном заведении...

Mark, I went to the right place:-), Clubmed jobs - they hire equivalents of затейник in commercial quantities, and sorry to disappoint you - they are all entertainers:-(
Hi Mark, what do you envisage, specifically, would one be studying in this class? And can I just clarify what kind of educational establishment would offer this subject? That will definitely influence the choice of translation.
Explanation: They teach these guys to organize recreational activities for kids, seniors, etc.

Maybe rec. activities management would be a better name for a subject

Recreation studies
Explanation: If this is a subject rather than the activity itself, then studies is possibly more appropriate. Recreation studies is the sort of subject I would expect to see on offer at various "new" universities, polytechnics and vocational colleges.

the people who work for club med et al would be referred to rather grandly as leisure industry professionals (if you called them entertainers that would suggest more the magicians who come to kids parties - but then perhaps that is what you want). i am not sure that you can go to college to study these vocations...

Explanation: This may not apply if it is being used in reference to a position and activity of the past, but I know that in the US the term "coach" and "coaching" has come to take on new meanings and attain new status in at least the educational sphere.
My mother works in the capacity of a "professional developer", which is specifically called a "coach" in the NY City public school system. These "coaches" primarily work with teachers to help them improve the way they teach reading or math, etc.
I don't think it would be going too far to apply this terminology to recreation, hence my suggestion.
