English translation:Special English School
Explanation:
I would probably say it like that.

I had a lot of friends in Moscow who went to Special Maths Schools, I guess the same applies to English.

Funnily enough, during the Blair government years, there has been an initiative to develop similar schools here, specialising in one or another discipline.

-> It's a great pity as this wording has been staying in my CV for 10 years already! Three English native speakers (1 from the UK and 2 from the US) proofread it and told me nothing about it. But what would be the best option then?

neutral  Joseph Bayerl: I am with Dan. Profound sounds out of place. Vera's 'extended' or 'extensive' would not be bad. 'intensive' may be even better.

I know what type of school you mean and I should admit there is no such schools that are comprehensive as well as specializing in a language in Britain. So I don\'t think you will find a British equivalent to the Russian school type. In British comprehensive schools, year-11 children (about 14 years olds) are choosing their specialization for GCSE and A-levels. Then a child may choose to study a foreign language more than other subjects.

--------------------------------------------------

By the way, British children start Secondary school in Britain when they are about 11 years old, but they don\'t study any particular subject intensively until they are about 14 years old. (I know that because my daughter is 14. ) Russian ОБЩЕОБРАЗОВАТЕЛЬНАЯ ШКОЛА с английским уклоном is for children younger than 11 (as far as I know).
That is if you are looking for a British equivalent of course. I mean there is no equivalent there, unfortunately/ or may be fortunately.

Specialized English School

Explanation:

\"Welcome to the Speciality Education Guide. Find specialized schools, programs, and educational opportunities in a variety of fields....Try a search or select from the categories below..\"

или

\"Residential treatment center and special school that provides help for troubled boys. Help with behavioral issues, depression and substance abuse. Located near Zion National Park, Utah. \"

Private Academy with a Concentration in the English Language

Explanation:
My colleagues across the Atlantic are welcome to comment on how well this fits common usage in British education circles.

However, I do not think that it is necesssary to consider this "special education" in the sense of a school for the children with mental delays. Consider the MVD Academy in Chita (http://www.chita.ru/~milischool/) I also see examples of special schools for mathematics and other topics.

Therefore, I would go with "Academy" for a school specializing in the liberal arts and sciences and "Conservatory" for one specializing in the performing or visual arts.
