Michael Korovkin: faculty-wide, though. There are many departments in a faculty.+In English it may. But not Факультет in Russian. And then again, even if it were teaching faculty, why necessarily department and, for that matter, not the whole university?

-> "Faculty" might be interpreted as the body of teachers, not students. And in this case, we are talking about a dictation held among all students of one department (of philology, I assume)
