Energy / Power Generation / renewables
Russian term or phrase: электроэнергетикa на основе использования возобновляемых источников энергии
I provide some context sentences below. Instinctively, I want to simply call this "the renewable energy sector". My document also contains the term "энергетикa на основе использования возобновляемых источников энергии" and with this I am confident that "the renewable energy sector" fits. BUT, with электроэнергетикa I am not sure what to do with the "электрo" bit.. I think perhaps "renewable power sector" works. It has plenty of Google hits,

"Основными направлениями государственной политики в сфере повышения энергетической эффективности электроэнергетики на основе использования возобновляемых источников энергии на период до 2020 года"

....обеспечить рациональное использование потенциала отечественной промышленности в целях развития электроэнергетики, функционирующей на основе использования возобновляемых источников энергии.

electric power based on renewable energy sources
Explanation:
Alternative: electrical energy based on renewable energy sources.
(It is a mistake to edit the author here. The author is evidently emphasizing the fact that the (or most of the) sources of the energy are not electrical, but require conversion etc.) (Lightning being perhaps the exception. It is essentially electrical.)

You don't need to add the word 'sector' to name a sector of the economy
However, you can find
"renewable power generation sector"
here
http://sefi.unep.org/fileadmin/media/sefi/docs/publications/...
and
"renewable electricity generation sector"
here:
http://www.sdtc.ca/uploads/documents/en/R_E_G_BC_12.8.05.pdf
as well as on many more pages
I tried to follow the links in parallel answers
Most simply didn't open
Others didn't contain examples of the exact phrases in the corresponding answers

P.S.
Despite the huge popularity of renewable power generation, googling for
"electric power based on renewable energy sources"
brings up 0 (zero) results
The closest expression used by native English speakers - but orders of magnitude less frequently - is
"electric power generation from renewable energy sources"
where 'generation' is obviously indispensable
Just wondering about the kind of client who can bend the translation of a common phrase to fit his/her taste rather than standard terminology...

disagree  Igor Blinov: What "renewable electricity" is? Electricity cannot exist w/o consumers, since it is consumed when generated.
