Russian term or phrase: Если б мир объявили, то мы бы сняли многое
From a documentary. An officer is talking about Ustinov's aspirations. I don't know how to translate this particular sentence, and feel like the crux of the matter lies in the fact that I don't understand what exactly they're trying to take off or снять.

я думаю, что это в первую очередь мотивы, которые его к этому принуждали, были такие которые касались его внутреннего мира. Он хотел бы проявить себя как министр обороны, чтоб мы видели . . . ЕСЛИ Б МИР ОБЪЯВИЛИ, ТО МЫ БЫ СНЯЛИ, КОНЕЧНО, МНОГОЕ. А то нас обвинили и все начали орать что мы агрессоры.

During entrance of Soviet Troops in Czechoslovakia they had 3 possible operation plans:

«Дунай», «Дунай-Канал» and «Дунай-Канал-Глобус».

I think here "mir" is same as "глобус".

Explanation:
I take it that refers to Afghanistan? Considering when Ustinov was Minister of Defense. You can write "had declared peace," of course, but it's not the normal was of saying this in English, as I'm sure you know. Or, maybe, "If we had declared the war over..."
