Like in all non-Romance languages, Russian speakers are sort of "twice removed" from the original semantics of the multitude of Latin terms with whil Russian is richly contaminated. That's why they widely use "pedagogy" basically as an equivalent of "teaching". Which is wrong. In English, which, after all, is only half Germanic but half Romance, one can't do that (noit yet!): the correct use should be reserved esxlusively for "teaching children".... making it absolutely unusable in the context of post–school education (and please don't throw Google at me: there's no precedent that one can't find on Google). "Academic", Grinles Cat, is just fine, for it does automatically imply both teaching and research. |
