Russian to English translations [PRO]
Social Sciences - Government / Politics / Pascal Lamy quote
Russian term or phrase: Решение заключается в адаптации нашего мышления...
I actually don't need a translation, but to find the following English quote by Pascal Lamy (at least I assume it was made in English):

Решение заключается в адаптации нашего мышления к тому интегральному и взаимосвязанному миру, который мы создали.

Again, no translations please, but the actual quote. I looked myself but couldn't find it. TIA.

English translation:The real challenge today is to change our way of thinking...
Explanation:
The real challenge today is to change our way of thinking—not just our systems, institutions or policies. We need the imagination to grasp the immense promise—and challenge—of the interconnected world we have created.

Many thanks to everyone. I ended up using this translation since it's the "official" translation posted on the WTO site.

neutral  Rachel Douglas: That is an English translation of the same passage that Alexander and I found in French. But it does not match the one Mark asked about. Since, however, Lamy customarily speaks in French, I think Mark should feel free to just translate it.

neutral  Rachel Douglas: Alexander, that's the same passage I found and posted in the discussion. But it does not correspond to the one Mark asked for. Where is "integrale", where is "adaptation" or "adapter"? I couldn't find one with all of those.

Le vrai défi aujourd'hui, c'est de changer notre façon de penser — pas seulement nos systèmes, institutions ou politiques. Il nous faut assez d'imagination pour appréhender l'immense promesse — et l'immense défi — du monde interconnecté que nous avons créé.

The solution... etc.

Explanation:
Since everybody is posting the passage I found, which is not the same as your original, as if it were the solution, here's a translation of each one.

Translation from your Russian:
The solution lies in adapting our thinking to the integrated and interconnected world we have created.

Translation from the French passage I cited in the discussion, which others subsequently posted as the answer. It's similar in sense, but pretty clearly not the same statement:
The real challenge today is to change our way of thinking, rather than merely our systems, institutions, or policies. We need imagination, to realize the promise and the enormous challenge of the interconnected world we have created.

On the other hand, given that two French versions have been found, with slightly different wording, maybe the original of that one was in English, after all.

Our ... mind-sets have not caught up with ...

Explanation:
The full phrase

Our institutions, policies, and mind-sets have not caught up with the integrated and interconnected world we have created.
http://www.wto.org/english/news_e/sppl_e/sppl194_e.htm

matches the Russian version only partially; still, for the most part it's there. Hope it helps.

This document — http://gesd.free.fr/lamy11.pdf — contains both English and French versions.
