Russian term or phrase: Sentence

There are no terminology problems here. I'm just having a hard time translating the sentence:

Вполне естественно, что под знаком того, найдет ли приемлемый выход из создавшегося положения иракское руководство, подтвердит ли свое профессиональное видение обстановки – и будут проходить оставшиеся до вывода американских войск три месяца.

This is the concluding sentence from the article. Some of the problems discussed include Iraqi reluctance to grant legal immunity for soldiers remaining in the country, Muqtada al-Sadr's threat to attack any foreign troops that remain, Turkish attacks on Iraqi Kurdistan, and cooperation between Turkey and Iran against the PKK.

Any advice/explanations will be much appreciated.

Explanation:
"Naturally the dominant issue in the three months remaining before American troops are withdrawn will be whether or not the Iraq leadership can find an acceptable way out of the current situation and demonstrate a professionally competent grasp of it."

Obviously there are lots of vocabulary choices, and the question of merging положение and обстановка into one, but maybe this suggests at least a workable sentence structure.
