Russian to English translations [PRO] Idioms / Maxims / Sayings / jargon
Russian term or phrase:приставать
Например, в таком контексте: Никак не могу удержаться и пристаю ко всем встреченным кошкам и собакам (в смысле хочется погладить, посюсюкать). Бездомных, конечно, лучше хоть накормить:-)
you can say 'stop pestering me' playfully knowing that it won't stop. when you say 'stop hassling /bothering" me it's always said with a dead serious face showing you want it to stop. "make a fuss of' - это не "приставать"
I keep checking "pester" and have my doubts - offered synonyms are "hussle", "bother" and the like. My intentions are so much nicer, I talk to them first and ask their permission:-) Sometimes talk is all I can have, and in a form of a monologue. Can't forget cats in Holland - I doubt anyone had ever looked at me and the offered treats with such disdain, if any look was granted at all - the guys definitely rule the country:-) Colosseum cats in Italy are a whole different story.
