Russian to English translations [PRO] Idioms / Maxims / Sayings | | Russian term or phrase: Погоды не сделает | This is from a sports event competition. The speaker is mildly complaining about the not the best possible
weather conditions for the event but goes on to add:
Но ничего, лёгкие облачка и накрапывающий иногда дождик погоды не сделают.
Normally, I would translate it as "won't matter", "won't make a difference" or some such. In this case however, I'm struggling with the fact that they are also talking about the clouds and drizzle (cloudy and rainy weather) ... which won't change the weather! This is of course a not-too-subtle play on words but I can't think of a similar trick in English. Any ideas? |
