Russian term or phrase: пиариться на крови

Его бесило, что многие политики, стали «пиариться на крови» в духе «лучших» российских традиций.

I wonder if пиариться is a typo, but if so, I can't guess what it should be.

I don't feel able to provide more context because I have had it impressed upon me that this is a highly confidential project, so I can't give any clue as to where this comes from.

Explanation:
"Пиариться" means "to raise your profile and gain good reputation by using public relations".
There's a fixed expression exists - "клясться на крови" (to swear to tell the truth and sign your swear words with your blood). Thereby, "пиариться на крови" would mean "to beat your chest like gorilla in front of public, telling them that everything you wish most of all is the nation to be happy, that you're honest, kind, etc. and build your trust by telling such words"
