Mark, so you could easily leave out the word replica... perhaps period-style design inspired by/influenced by/partially influenced by....etc etc or a classical design that draws inspiration from Pavel I's Eastern Sabre.

Уважаемый дамы и господа, а также товарисчи! "Реплика" и у меня вертелсь с самого начала. Но что-то меня внутренне удерживает... Речь идет о сабле, изготовленной в Златоусте современными мастерами, которые взяли за основу "Восточную саблю" царя Петра. Поглядели они на неё и сделали свою - очень похожую. Однако материалы, например, для клинка, использовались другие. В оригинале это булатная сталь, а здесь сталь марки ЭИ15. Может это аналог булатной стали? Не знаю. Повторили орнамент на сабле. Ножны выполнены иначе. Поэтому я и говорю, что сходство, конечно есть, но не полное. То есть это не имитация.

Дэн, проблема в том, что "replica", как я понимаю, предполагает точную копию. В моем же случае только часть (хотя надо сказать, что бОльшая - примерно 70%) является имитацией, а в остальном авторы использовали свой дизайн и подход.
