Russian to English translations [PRO]
Art/Literary - Other
Russian term or phrase:
This is the heading to part of a newspaper article.

Vendée in the taiga?

"Таежная Вандея" - this may be a literary reference. Can someone throw some light on what connotations this would have for the Russian reader?

The subject-matter of the article? Well, it's about rivalries between aluminium companies. Essentially, it's about attempts to gain control of the largest aluminium plant.
There is no mention of the Vendée or the taiga in the text that follows.

Explanation:
I was tempted to put "Tigers in the Taiga" but I thought that was going too far!

Erika's answer is very helpful for the context, but doesn't give you a useable translation.

Thank you, David. I used "infighting", because it seemed most appropriate here.

Siberian uprising

Explanation:
I agree with Olga.

And there is a bit of sarcasm in this title too.
Dylan Edwards, you see there was a revolt in that part of France in XVIII century, so the author meant to say that a big fight took place in Siberia over that plant. :)

Mutiny in Siberia

Explanation:
Depending on whether it works for your plot, i.e. whether something can be characterized as a "mutiny."

Alternately, Battle for X. (I'm thinking here of a chapter in Louis Nizer's My Life In Court entitled "The Battle for Loew's" about a corporate takeover battle for the Loew's theater chain)

agree  Alexandra Taggart: I believe, that you are right. You cannot call it "counter-revolution", becase it went not on such a large scale and it scarcely could be called political."Mutiny" on other hand does express that it happened in some professional sphere.

Reference:

Reference information:
