Russian term or phrase:
Out of curiosity only - I left the word untranslated for the outsourcer to deal with it. Later, I failed to find it in any dictionary at hand. Well, guess you know what it means - when old-timers in the army make rookies to wash their socks, that being not the least or worst of it. I'm especially curious of the native speakers' opinion - is there anything of the kind in, say, US or UK army?
Thanks in advance.

Explanation:

Hazing

Explanation:
Haze: harass by imposing humiliating or painful tasks, as in military institutions.

A veteran of the U.S. Military Academy explained that first year cadets (plebes) are routinely hazed by more senior cadets.

I hope this helps.

Code red?

Explanation:

bullying, harassment (by superiors to subordinates)

Explanation:
е. фонетическую передачу (dedovshina).
Приведенный мной перевод я нашла в "Словаре новой лексики 90-х годов", еще есть описательный эквивалент - 'unjust and unhuman treatment' с таким комментарием - in the Soviet military, e.g. unreasonably long periods of time on watch duty and other forms of exploiting esp. new recruits).
