Russian term or phrase:

Monica is Polish but she has lived all of her life in Moscow. Finally she decided to go together with her young daughter to Krakow to visit her father’s grave. She is very impressed by picturesque Polish villages, castles, cathedrals and by very welcoming Poles. She has nobody in Russia and for a first time in her life she experiences the warmth of her own family. Not only does she have a nice reception by her step-brothers and sisters, they also asked her to stay in the house of their common father. As an artist Monica finds a job with a local florist. In one year her daughter makes tremendous progress in Polish and is accepted into a Polish school. But since the very first time Monica visited her father’s grave a very strong strange feeling has taken over her, she can not stop thinking about Moscow, art studios, her friends and something else that she can not explain to herself. Having been tormented by these thoughts she decides to go to see a priest. The priest says words which have a very important meaning in the text that follows and I do not want to misinterpret them:

< Every one is tied to his or her place of birth by an invisible living thread. You are able to feel its pull stronger sometimes. You should search your soul and find this *treasure of inner self and it’s fixing knot*.The charms of Poland are not for you.>

Simply to say “purpose” or “meaning” is not good enough because “the thread” would be lost in this monologue. Can I change here into something else? Please, help.

a little knot, (forever) tying you to your destination

Explanation:
Все–таки решил предложить ответ – just to gloss into something more literary.....

knot of self destination

Explanation:
Every one is tied to his or her place of birth by an invisible living thread. You are able to feel its pull stronger sometimes. **At such moments** You should search your soul and find this *treasure of inner self, a **knot of self destination.**

Notes to answerer

agree  Michael Korovkin: At first I rebelled against this answer and even started to write my own, but then realised that, slightly awkward as it may sound, in this context there's very little alternative, if any.
