Russian term or phrase:скирды
Cannot be haystacks because it's made of corn stems...Sigh.
Зимой овцы и коровы получают лобузину, то есть стебли кукурузы. Листья они обгрызают, а стебли остаются в яслях. Их выгребают и летом высушивают в маленьких копёшках, затем складывают в узкие скирды. Зимой это хорошее топливо.
Yeah, not sure why it didn't seem workable at first, I guess I had to change some of the other terminology first, i.e. stover, stalks, stooks, stacks. Works now :-) 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer
Explanation: Why not simply "stacks"? Hay hasn't trademarked all stacks, has it?

Yeah, not sure why it didn't seem workable at first, I guess I had to change some of the other terminology first, i.e. stover, stalks, stooks, stacks. Works now :-)
