Russian term or phrase: размашистой рысью
From a work of creative non-fiction, describing a country scene.

Едем размашистой рысью.

Multitran has "extended trot" and I have no idea what that is. Is extended referring to time or are the riders spread out from each other?

in swinging gait

Explanation:
It remains to account for the type of a trot (when the horse swings his/her legs), that the ground surface under its feet is rather plain,

I think, it could be better to abbreviate like it is in your Russian text:
'Were moving with swinging gate'.
