Russian term or phrase: а принеся домой корочку'
Потом я поступил в университет на филологическое отделение. На первом курсе я прилежно учился, делал все семинары и готовился к экзаменам, как полоумный. Я очень хотел стать журналистом. На пятом я еле как закончил дипломную работу, 'а принеся домой корочку', и вовсе позабыл, зачем когда-то так неистово хотел попасть туда, откуда так трудно было уйти, хоть что-то при этом получив. Я совсем потерялся. У меня не было ни денег, ни опыта, ни постоянной девушки.

Did he bring home a crust of bread? Did he not complete his studies and did he have nothing to bring home?
