I don't understand - why is Tikhon in the accusative? It seems I don't understand the meaning of 'svalit' here.

Thanks to all. I was so confused because the previous line was: "The footmen are sleeping". Tikhon is one of the footmen and so I thought he was ALREADY asleep! Don't worry, I do know the accusative case! I should have provided more context.
