  -> Thank you. It would have to be "loftily", and it wouldn't mean the same thing, it would mean condescending, scornful of the non-academic, and it doesn't mean that here.

agree  Olga Cartlidge: Using "lofty" would give a totally differenct slant to the statement, Cf lofty - DISAPPROVING If you have a lofty attitude etc., you act as if you think you are better than other people (Cambridge Dictonary).
