Russian term or phrase: каменный мешок
This comes from a documentary, a soldier is speaking about how they once trapped their enemy in a canyon. I believe this phrase indicates a prison cell, first, is that true, second, can anyone think of an idiomatic phrase that works in this context?

Перед перевалом есть кишлачок, вот, определили, что там. Выбросили десант по точкам, окружили этот, как его сейчас называть, КАМЕННЫЙ МЕШОК для того, чтобы не выпустить, не дать возможность бандформированиям вывести наших людей . . .

Explanation:
This phrase does not indicate a prison cell; rather a hard-to-escape, dead-ended place surrounded by mountains/rocks.

He intended to turn Rosecrans' left flank, slice across his escape route to Chattanooga, and then mop up his enemy in a mountainous cul-de-sac.

stone-walled [them in there]

Explanation:
As others correctly noted, it's not a prison cell. Rather, it's a place with no escape, a trap, surrounded be rocky stone walls. Hence my suggestion.

disagree  Angela Greenfield: "stonewalling" in AE means to stall something playing for time or to refuse to cooperate (морочить голову, в общем). Hope you don't mind my "disagree".

neutral  Kiwiland Bear: Sorry, never heard of this expression and can't find any examples in this sense (apart from the literal meaning). Could you provide some links for that usage?// As I said - apart from literal. We are talking idiomatic use here.
