See below. Explanation: These are some examples, which can be used for the Russian “vakhtoviy avtobus”: 1. shift bus “A shift bus had to be used to get enough employees to operate the cafe and restuarant. Labor came primarily from LaPlace, Reserve, and Garyville. The shift bus would run every eight hours to pick up employees coming in work shift and to bring employees home from previous work shift.” http://www.stjohnparish.com/airlinemotors/history.htm “She is not actively pursuing second and/or third shift bus service at this time.” http://www.lcats.org/publish/transit_board/20000321_minutes.... 2. (workers) commuter bus “Provide workers commuter bus service, in cooperation with neighboring businesses if necessary.” http://www.metro.seoul.kr/eng/smg/agenda/1-3.html Hope that this helps. Best regards, Artyan Web search. |

shift crew shuttle bus Explanation: Just one more option to consider. I have used an American shuttle bus, and if asked to name it in Russian, I'd have used the term Вахтовый автобус. |

duty bus, service bus Explanation: The meaning of the word иахтенный автобус is very specific and very Russian. So it is not a too simple thing to INVENT something corresponding to this notion in all those Englishes (of course, this term will differ in its usage in USA, GB, New Zeland, and, say, India). This is a bus which collect workers and realize their transportation to a far working place (in suburbs, ir far from city). Sometime they simply write on bus glass ВАХТА, which means a presence on a certain place at a certain time and observation or, in our case, a work i.e., transportation of workers to and from owrking place, cf. ВАХТЕР, ВАХТЕННЫЙ, ВАХТА (морская). In miliraty sense this term also exists (navy) and means a bus which conveys a ship team to the place of dislcation of the vessel. Please recall that (for some rather fashion reasons) earlier and for civic purposes they uses the term СЛУЖЕБНЫЙ АВТОБУС (i.e., a service bus which bring people to work and transport them back after work). Nowadays it is of greater fashion to call almost same buses ВАХТОВЫЙ АВТОБУС or simply ВАХТА. Finally, in some cases, with application of shuttle-crew scheme of work (e.g., one works 2 weeks on oil platform and then retuns back (home) to have 2 week rest), also can explore вахтовый автобус to transport people to a place. For instance, many qualified people from Tyumen' go by such buses for some 300-400km to work 2 weeks on oil wells. This mean of trasportation is called just in the same manner:) Dr. Tagir S. Tagirov KSU Please do not mix with вахтовый метод and вахтовый автобус. Linvgo 6.5 Oxford Russian Dictionary (very expensive but rich in content) |
