Slovenian to English translations [PRO] Human Resources | | Slovenian term or phrase: bi šel od vrat do vrat, če gre za utemeljeno stvar. | This phrase comes from a personality test. Full sentence is "Za neko organizacijo bi šel od vrat do vrat, če gre za utemeljeno stvar." Does "od vrat do vrat" have the meaning of "door to door sales", or does it mean "to go to great lengths", or something else? And is "utemeljeno stvar" something along the lines of "an established product"?
Thanks in advance,
Mark |

1 hr confidence: peer agreement (net): +1 knocking on doors, and with good reason
Explanation: Hi Mark, I'm a native speaker, and I guess I would need to know more context, or if there is none, the meaning is a little open.
I interpret "od vrat do vrat" as "I would personally go knocking on doors," not necessarily selling, perhaps promoting, educating, lobbying, who knows, but I would get personally involved and put my own time and labor in it. I don't know how literally they mean door to door.
I interpret "utemeljena stvar" as a "valid cause", or "something that I would consider a good cause", that is, I would go knocking on doors if I had a good (well-founded) reason to do it, but it's certainly not about an established product.
