Pharmacognosia studies drugs, not the medicines (zdravila!) itself. In pharmacognosia we learn to recognize medicinal herbs and to know which substances they contain and which parts of the herb can be used to obtain the substance. Medicines are finished pharmaceutical or galenic products.

neutral  Vito Smolej: "drugs" should better be avoided for the obvious reason - medicines or medicinal products

  -> quite the opposite, in this context drugs are not the same as medicinal products.Drugs are much wider term
