Hi. I don't know how you might say this in Dutch but I thought an explanation in English might help you decide. "O mas bien" means something like 'or, better still', when you have already given a possibility but you are about to give a better one. Despedazar is to tear into pieces. There is a certain animal implication to it, as of carnivorous animals tearing flesh.
I hope this helps a bit.
