in the USA, "fortnight" is not in common use and sounds quaint/olde worlde. In Spain they usually just use "quincena/quince dias" which can be confusing since it means 14 days, which once caused me problems with a holiday rental when I was asked to vacate the apartment a day sooner than I'd expected.

Afterall a quincena is strictly speaking a fifteen day period, so if your client wants to specify a fourteen day period (and then sometimes a 15 day period) then leave it literal. Why not? It fits nicely into the context, too. Kate- want to post this answer before someone else does!?

What I have to translate is a series of error messages produced by software used to manage a series of advertising campaigns. Examples are "Debe indicar el rango de catorcenas" and "Debe seleccionar una CATORCENA para el pedido nº X y la cadena nº X". It appears to refer to a period of 14 days, maybe but quincena also appears.

You most probably have looket it up in Schuster: catorcena=group of fourteen units (I guess not necessarily it refers to a timeframe)

Can you not give us some more context? "Catorcena" means fourteenth, and can also mean forteen-year-old, if I'm not wrong, and without more context it's pretty difficult to tell! Couldn't you post the whole sentence or something? Thanks!
