  -> Thank you, aceavila - Noni - I hate what retailers do next to the cashier to try and get us to make those stupid impulse buys. They make so much money taking advantage of our impulses and we waste so much money by falling for their traps.

  -> I like your first suggestion of "having made" since obviously it refers to an action in the past. Although "impulse purchase" is certainly correct, I have heard "impulse buy" much more often than "impulse buy", although it does sound more informal.
