Spanish term or phrase: autoasistencia
I would guess at "auto handling" or "self-handling" but they both get surprisingly few hits at Google. Does anyone know the exact term used in English Speaking Airports?

Here is the context:

"Este proceso incluirá los aeropuertos con mayor volumen de tráfico, donde ..... se estudiará la posibilidad que existe de ampliar el número de ***autoasistencias*** ... manteniendo en todo caso como premisa fundamental la operatividad y la seguridad del aeropuerto"

self-handling
Explanation:
Only yesterday I covered a meeting on this, albeit about ports but from things said I am pretty sure that they use it in airports too
HTH

it is the term used in European directives

I discovered that the Company I am writing about use this term. Although others, such as Air Europe, use "Self-assistance". There might still be a further term out there somewhere, because neither of these gets many hits.

Thanks to all of you anyway.

self-service

Explanation:
"self-service" is the normal way of saying this. For example, a self-service gas pump (petrol pump in the UK), a self-service ticket machine, a self-service coffee machine, etc.

Yes Stuart, I know it is normally your suggestion. But I was specifically hoping that someone who is a specialist in this area would know which phrase is commonly used in the trade. Thanks anyway.
