Spanish to English translations [PRO]
Agriculture / coffee growing

Typo for mycorrhiza (Pl.: mycorrhizae or mycorrhizas)

Explanation:
Hi Froggy,

I think it's a typo and the text refers to "endomicorrizas" and "ectomicorrizas"

"Aunque las ectomicorrizas apenas aparecen en la naturaleza en un 3% del total de plantas existentes en el planeta, son de gran importancia ya que incluyen la mayoría de las coníferas, quercíneas y otras plantas empleadas en los programas de reforestación. A diferencia de lo que ocurre en las endomicorrizas, las ectomicorrizas están representadas por más de 5.000 especies de hongos."

You're right, Froggy. Mycirrhizae is the word here. My mistake.

agree  John Speese: I too am sure they are typos for ento- and micorrizas.

-> Thanks, John. That was my first impression, as I assumed that this portion of the text referred to the previously mentioned micOrisas (sic). However, "mycirrhizae" do exist, so Froggy's decision should be based on context.

Reference information:
I too found some sites with myci- rather than mycorrhizae, but I think (but could be wrong) that myci- is an alternate, less common spelling, as most of the texts in which this spelling appeared seemed to be written by non-native speakers.
