Spanish term or phrase: cosecha (de los frutos)

Hola a todos,

Espero que podáis ayudarme con la siguiente frase que forma parte de un informe de una ONG para uso interno de la organización.

"Las plantaciones ... han ingresado paulatinamente en la etapa de producción y ha empezado ****la cosecha**** de los frutos de este trabajo."

Se refiere a la cosecha también en sentido metáforico ya que antes de esta frase hablan de las dificultades que han tenido que superar para llegar al punto en el cual han podido iniciar las plantaciones. Es decir que se refiere a la frase hecha "cosechar los frutos de un trabajo"... pero también a cosechar los frutos de verdad. ¡Vaya lío!

Si necesitáis más contexto os lo puedo dar.

Asker: Thank you. So, in the sentence "we are reaping the fruits of our labor" for instance, the ambiguity would be kept, wouldn't it?

Explanation:
'harvesting' is more general than 'reaping' (which is historically limited to cereal crops 'reaped' with a scythe).

It works with any crops (fruit that is 'picked', nuts or mushrooms that are 'gathered' and trees that are 'felled', and it is just as 'ambiguous' as 'reaping' for that metaphorical useage.
