or "tin can" to refer to a can made of steel or aluminum.) Is the context is from any region where tin-mining is common (e.g., the Andes)? I myself have a little Ekeko (an Andean spirit of abundance) figurine made of tin.
I am inclined to think it is tin, not aluminum foil. I do not think Spanish speakers use "tin" to refer to common metal objects made of other metals the way English speakers do (i.e., in English you may hear "tin foil" for foil that is made of aluminum
