I googled and got zero hits, but it is used twice in this document. I can't find any helpful photos either. (The author notes that "altar" may be a misnomer since these structures could have been used for other purposes.) I thought about translating it "brow of the altar" but it seems too literal...

| Note from asker to answererThank you, Oso. I went back to look at a drawing, and thinking of your solutiion (rim), I finally "saw" what was described. For the record, I'm using overhanging ledge and overhang.
