Spanish term or phrase: en plastas
From a Mexican text. It doesn't make any sense the way I've translated it, so I assume that I'm misunderstading "en plastas" --
My version: One can see that mineral or plant dyes were applied in a thick paste, or more frequently, in shades of black and white, red, ...

The original: Se observa el uso de pigmentos minerales y vegetales en plastas o, más frecuentemente, en degradados de negro y blanco, rojo, café, amarillo, turquesa, cian, verde y púrpura.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Charlotte: Does the sentence make sense to you? It seems odd that it says "in paste form, or more frequently, [a list of colors] ..." because the paste was colored (dyed) with mineral or plant material... thanks!
