Spanish to English translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Archaeology / Mexico | | Spanish term or phrase: bóveda en saledizo | bóveda en voladizo = corbelled arch, but what is this?
Amplios recintos cuya edificación debió ser planeada varios años antes del deceso de los ocupantes. Aunque de mejor factura que las anteriores, siguen el mismo sistema constructivo de ***bóveda en saledizo*** y mampostería burda con aplanados de lodo. Estas cámaras corresponden al Clásico temprano.

I looked at your link, but do you think that "saledizo" is just one kind of corbel construction? I thought it might be something else ... Thanks!

| Note from asker to answererMike: I didn't realize voladizo/saledizo are essentially synonyms, but after looking up those terms and ménsula in Wikipedia, it appears they are. Thanks for your help! 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |
