per DRAE: Pájaro de unos tres decímetros de longitud, de plumaje negro azulado y pecho rojizo y sin plumas, pero con un cordoncillo carnoso. Tiene un copete o penacho que se prolonga hasta la extremidad del pico. Vive en las selvas oscuras y su voz parece un mugido débil.
But it also says it might be a tapir. Does anyone know the name of the bird in English, and are there any opinions about whether this is referring to a bird rather than a tapir? Saraguato, for the record, is a howler monkey. |

Y mirando la flora y fauna de méxico, yo diría que se refieren a este mamífero utilizando la variante de nombre común y no al pájaro al que hace referencia la RAE.
Es solo mi opinión y quizás ande totalmente desencaminada.
