Spanish to English translations [PRO] Art/Literary - Archaeology / Mexico | | Spanish term or phrase: globo redondo | I'm stumped by several terms in this description of Puuc-style Chac masks found at Chichén Itzá. I've looked at several images, and I don't see anything that I can equate to a "globo" (these sculptures are just a mask, not an entire figure):
• El mascarón de Chac tiene las siguientes particularidades: una banda frontal; ojos en general rectangulares y ***globo redondo***; nariz de gancho muy prologada; boca entreabierta; dientes de múltiples aspectos; colmillos curvilíneos; orejeras cuadradas. En algunos casos en la banda frontal o bien en el inicio de la nariz tiene un rostro humano, como en el Chichanchob y en el Anexo Este de las Monjas. |
