I really need help translating this word... I am wondering whether it is a specific term that in fact does not need to be translated, simply adopted. What does anyone else think?

Here is the context:

Uno de estos sitios es El Obispito 1, situado al sur de Chañaral, corresponde a un extenso campamento (400.000 mt 2), emplazado sobre una terraza marina alta, que presenta varias áreas de actividad diferenciadas por la presencia de estructuras, conchales y áreas de talla lítica asociadas a instrumentos diagnósticos del Complejo Huentelauquén.

Apart from being a freelance translator I am an archaeologist (PhD candidate in Anthropology). I have also seen shell middens (conchales) located along Colombia's Caribbean coastline.
