Hi Patricia. I think that there is some leeway in translating 'notas criticas' -- but not in your situation. It looks like you're writing about the journal 'Migraciones Internacionales'; if so, they themselves, on their own English site, say that 'notas criticas' are essays:

Requirements for Notas Criticas (essays) --
1. Notas criticas are essays on current topics or research drafts ....
2. The Consejo de Redacción (Editorial Board) selects essays based on their quality and currency.

Their Spanish version:

Las Notas Críticas son reflexiones sobre temas de actualidad o avances de investigación

Las Notas Críticas serán seleccionadas por el Consejo de Redacción en base a su calidad y actualidad.
