Spanish term or phrase: cadena operativa
I'm translating an academic text about the Mesolithic lithic industry in Spain, and I need the English term for "cadena operativa", originally a French term, coined in the 60s, to describe the entire process involved in prehistoric stone tool production.

This is an example from the text:
"Este trabajo tiene como objeto la caracterización petrográfica del material lítico tallado recuperado en el yacimiento mesolítico de XXXX. Dicho material fue inicialmente estudiado desde un punto de vista tecnológico con el fin de determinar las cadenas operativas presentes".

I've found various possibilities on Google ("operative scheme", "operational scheme" "operational sequence"), but they all seem to be "one-off" translations, as if no accepted term exists in English.

agree  Gilla Evans: chaîne opératoire is the correct archaeological term. Introduced by French anthropologist André Leroi-Gourhan in 1966 to provide a theory of technical processes in which technical acts were also social acts.
