I don´t know what the correct term for 'encajes' in this context.

Puente de Pedret (Cerca de Berga)

Es un puente gótico, documentado el año 1286, que atraviesa el Llobregat, hecho con piedra irregular y sin pulir. Aunque inicialmente contaba con 5 arcos, ahora está formado por 4 arcos de medidas desiguales.

Cerca del puente hay una serie de agujeros redondeados excavados en roca viva, que corresponden a los ***encajes** de las vigas de madera que sostenían un puente románico.

As I've just commented before, I worry that there may be a more technical term, but I can't find one... and I don't think socket could be classified as wrong!
