Los dos cabos de la rienda que, saliendo del nudo en que éstos se reunen, sirven para azotar el caballo a falta de rebenque o talero. Los árabes usan también riendas con azoteras. En Bolivia usan el chicotillo, que es una gruesa lonja de cuero en forma de larga palmeta, hendida en dos suelas y añadido a las riendas.
