Spanish term or phrase: materia vigorosamente empastada
"En esta composición, la relación con la generación de los naturalistas napolitanos es muy fuerte, desde Ribera hasta el Maestro del Anuncio a los pastores, unidos por el gusto por una materia vigorosamente empastada y por el interés por una factura realista de las figuras. El sentido táctil de las epidermis rugosas, las manos nudosas, la musculatura los brazos atentamente estudiada no muestran renuncia a aperturas pictóricas más modernas."

The same paragraph as with my previous question. This is a translation from Italian to Spanish and this might be causing some of the doubts I have - at least I like to think so. I have requested the Italian from the client to cross-reference but was wondering if in the meantime anyone had any ideas of how to phrase these three words.

richly primed pigments
Explanation:
this can refer to the priming of the canvas and the rich application of pigments

or maybe: laying on the paint in thick strokes...

The concept is that the pigment is not just the colour, but the way it paints ... the medium can be worked directly over the primed canvas, 'empasto', ...

agree  Margarita Gonzalez: in this case I would say rich "empasto" (empasto in italics)
