Spanish term or phrase:alucinado
For once, I'm working on a carefully written essay, but I'm wondering if the author has misused this word?

The DRAE defines it:
1. tr. Ofuscar, seducir o engañar haciendo que se tome una cosa por otra.
2. tr. Sorprender, asombrar, deslumbrar. U. t. c. intr. y c. prnl.
3. tr. coloq. Arg. En lenguaje estudiantil, desear vehementemente. Aluciné que iba al recital.
4. intr. Padecer alucinaciones.
5. prnl. Confundirse, desvariar.
And none of those terms seems to fit (unless perhaps "seduced" but I'm not convinced).

Manuel: ¡Gracias por la clarificación! Con la cantidad de respuestas veo que no hay ningun problema en la oración. Quise leerlo de una forma muy equivocada: la idea que los seres al ser captados en un foto fueran de alguna forma "ILUMINADOS".
El uso es perfectamente correcto:
alucinado, -da: adj. 3. [persona] Que está asombrado, sorprendido o fuertemente impresionado por un hecho o una situación determinados: se metía en la cueva y quedaba alucinado con lo que allí veía.

Explanation: I think "alucinado" is quite well used, in neither a positive or a negative sense, but rather matter-of-fact. I suggested this translation because I think it also is neutral and matter-of-fact. The author obviously neither approves of or condemns these millions of human beings.

Explanation: The three artists mentioned are reknowned for their painted portraits or photographic montages or printmaking. None of them, to my knowledge dabbles in digital photography. So I beleieve the point that the writer is making is that... commercially, portraits (hand painted, silver-based photos, etc) are all but dead, aside for the work of these famous artists.
And aside from the wants of celebrities, "true" portraits are a foreign matter to the countless millions deluded by digital photography.
I beleive the writer is purposeley being harsh towards digital photography, since "few" are still involved in traditonal portraits, and the "many" are being deceived by this supposedly adequate substitute.
Ha! Did you check out how I spelled "purposely"??? No wonder... I wouldn't pick my answer either! :-)) just kidding, your reason for picking "enthralled" makes a lot of sense. Take care!
