To criticize does not necessarily imply to find fault, but the word is often taken to mean the simple expression of an objection against prejudice, or a disapproval.
Another meaning of criticism is the study, evaluation, and interpretation of literature, social movements, film, arts, and similar objects and events. The goal of this type of criticism is to understand the work or event more thoroughly. Links to different types of criticism can be found at the bottom of this page.
I spent five years at university digesting all types of literary criticism, which basically means reading about what "expert" critiques today have to say about literary works written ages ago. I would have preferred asking the authors themselves what they had really wanted to say!
This person took a course.
I believe criticism would imply a negative connotation here, but I'm not sure, probably not. Do you think I should use "criticism ?". Thanks!
Rominarn: Why don't you think that criticism doesn't fit here? Do you have any more specific information on the "jornadas" (level of importance, venue, etc.)? Also, did this person take a course, or give a course, at this event?

(1st and 2nd) Contemporary Art Workshops and Critiques
Explanation: If this person took a course, it was probably with a professional artist who later offered critiques of participants work. Without knowing more, I would consider these one-day courses to be workshops. If you can consult him/her, you could verify the nature of the event and determine whether my hunch is correct. If the work is two-dimensional and portable, sometimes these are called "portfolio reviews/critiques". Some examples:
