saharaui Explanation: it is indeed used in spain but not to refer to north-africans who are magrebĂs. Saharaui are people from the Sahara, previously a spanish colony. they were abandoned to their fate by the spanish government in the 70's when morocco demanded the return of the territory,and are now under Moroccan rule. they have a long-standing struggle to achieve independence and create their own state. In Spain, they are usually refered to as el pueblo Saharaui. |
